Rituel De Fille

Processed with VSCO with a4 preset

Rituel De Fille [pronunciation: Ritu-elle d'Fee] is a makeup brand founded by 3 badass sisters. They are based in LA and describe their formulation approach as potion-making and are inspired by "the magical side of natural ingredients." Their products have quickly become favorites of top makeup artists and celebrities.

Every cheek color, highlighter and eye shadow is ultra pigmented and is unique in color and formula. Finally, a brand that isn't remaking clones of products that already exist.

Drunk Elephant Babyfacial, C-Firma, Marula Oil and Glycolic Night Serum

SkincareShelby RodriguezComment

Drunk Elephant T.L.C Babyfacial

This is one of my absolute favorite skincare products, if not #1. Unexpectedly, the product is a greenish/grey color and over time it starts to take on an orange/tan hue. It still works and feels the same even though the color has changed. Yes, it's the squiggly orange product on the right in the above photo.

Babyfacial is essentially an at-home peel. Some claim that it works as good as an expensive facial. The AHA/BHA concentration is much higher than most at 25% but still has a low pH so it isn't as irritating. This is not for ultra-sensitive skin, it is a strong product. I 'd recommend starting with 10 minutes instead of the full 20 just to see how your skin reacts. The first time I applied the product, I was a little nervous about the tingling sensation but it only lasted 2-3 minutes.

After 20 minutes, I rinsed my face and my skin was slightly pink, but silky soft. My pores had become half the size. I followed with the Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil. I didn't think it was possible for my face to feel any softer, but after I applied the oil, it was. The best part is that if you use this at night, you wake up with even BETTER results. I've never used anything like it. The mask fades acne scars, shrinks pores, brightens your skin, evens texture and makes your skin ultra soft. I recommend this to almost everyone.

Drunk Elephant C-Firma Day Serum

C-Firma is a potent vitamin C day serum packed with an antioxidant complex of 15%  ascorbic acid (vitamin C), ferulic acid, vitamin E fruit enzymes, and an anti-aging chronopeptide. To sum it up, it evens skin texture, lightens acne scars (which is why I wanted to try it to begin with) and gives your skin a luminous glow. Better yet, the product wears well under foundation if you're into glowy skin. Make sure to wear sunscreen with this product.

Drunk Elephant T.L.C Framboos Glycolic Night Serum

T.L.C Framboos Glycolic Night Serum is a gel formulated with a 12% AHA/BHA blend of Glycolic, Lactic, Tartaric, Citric and Salicylic acids and blended with raspberry extract. Overnight, it chemically exfoliates without any dryness or irritation. You are supposed to use Babyfacial two times a week and then use this serum in between. Drunk Elephant acknowledges that AHAs are often irritating, but they add plant enzymes to reduce irritation.

Overall, the brand is extremely impressive. Every Drunk Elephant product I've ever tried (including their ultra gentle cleansing Pekee bar), I rate 5/5.

Saturday Skin Spotlight Brightening Mask

SkincareShelby RodriguezComment

Saturday Skin Spotlight Brightening Mask

Saturday Skin is the latest Korean beauty brand you should know about. The brand launched last last July. It's an extension of one of Korea’s most renowned wellness centers called Chaum. Chaum is an research institution/spa/clinic that focuses on anti-aging. The rich and famous of Korea frequent the clinic for beauty treatments and these products are a take-home version.

I first tried out the Spotlight Brightening Mask a few weeks ago when my skin looked particularly dull. I used it after a detoxifying mask and loved the results. It's moisturizing, calming and really does brighten your skin. There is a lot of excess serum that you have to rub into your neck/chest after use. I followed the mask with a touch of moisturizer and applied makeup over it with no issues. This is a perfect anytime mask that's affordable and luxurious.

NARS & Too Cool For School Highlighter

MakeupShelby RodriguezComment

NARS Illuminator in Laguna -now replaced with NARS Liquid Bronzer (Left)

Although the NARS Illuminator is described as a liquid, I think it is slightly thicker than what you'd expect. This product is very blendable and pigmented. I think it works best as a bronzer or mixed with foundation for a dewy bronzed look. As always, my favorite way to apply this is with a beauty blender, especially if you are using it for subtle contouring.

NARS Illuminator in Copacabana (Middle)

This illuminator is the same formula as above. I typically use this after foundation and it applies well. I apply it on my cheekbones, inner corners of my eyes, brow bone and cupid's bow. I start by using my fingers then blend with a beauty blender.

Too Cool for School Dinoplatz Pearl Bay Invasion Highlighter in Pink Clam (right)

is not as thick as the NARS illuminator. I'd consider it more subtle than NARS. Because it's less pigmented, it's almost fool-proof. You cannot really apply it incorrectly. The formula contains olive oil, rosehip oil, peppermint oil, avocado oil, bamboo extract, cactus extract and argan oil to hydrate the skin.

Living Proof In-Shower Styler

HairShelby RodriguezComment

It is known that Living Proof has great shampoo and conditioner (swatches top and middle). The shampoo is sulfate-free, smells amazing and keeps my naturally frizzy hair more calm and shiny than most products. It is suitable for all types of hair.

Living proof has this new product called In-Shower Styler. It's a unique leave-in conditioner/ hair mask. You use it after conditioner and according to the instructions, are supposed to "rinse lightly." I have some trouble with these instructions because I am terrified of not rinsing my hair completely. Sadly, I cannot pull off the wet hair look like Britney.

This product makes your hair feel silky while still in the shower. It feels noticeably softer compared to just using the conditioner. I am still trying to figure out the exact amount I need to rinse out. You can see the clear density/texture change compared to the conditioner in the above photo which I think is interesting.

My hair does look better when I use this but I do think that adding a third hair product into my shower routine is not very realistic. I generally shower as quickly as possible, in under 10 minutes during the week.

Note* this product was complimentary via Influenster in exchange for my honest review.

F. Miller Hair Oil & MAKE Beauty Moonlight Primer

Hair, MakeupShelby RodriguezComment

This primer is unlike any primer I've used.  Right from the pump, it looks like a black/charcoal colored shimmery gel, then after massaging it into your skin, it becomes a clear gel and finally into a white cream. The cream dries colorless and matte. This primer controls shine and reduces the appearance of fine lines. It's silicone free and protects skin from pollution and HEV Light. Be prepared to spend a few seconds working the product into your skin and allow it to set before applying makeup over it.

This oil makes chemically treated hair look and feel healthy. It works best on dry or almost dry hair. Admittedly, I have used too much of this product multiple times. Use a tiny amount (a drop or two) and rub it into your palms then apply to the ends of your hair. It truly makes hair that resembles straw look shiny and healthy.

Note* The dropper is black but I accidentally swapped it for a white one when photographing this.

Co. Bigelow Rose Salve

SkincareShelby RodriguezComment

I am lured into all rose products. Especially salves, balms and creams. This salve did not disappoint. The scent is calming, and it soothes chapped skin. It's great for lips, knees, feet and elbows. I think it's a little heavy for use on hands during the day but I strongly recommend using at night on hands and feet.

+ The Co. Bigelow store on 6th ave in Greenwich Village is a very cool pharmacy loaded with products. Be prepared to walk out with at least five things you do not need.

Pai Rosehip Oil

SkincareShelby RodriguezComment

This is the first Pai Skincare product I've ever used, and I'm impressed. I'm always pleasantly surprised when facial oils calm breakouts. This is one of those oils.

It's now part of my oil favorites list because it works well even when my skin is oily and acne-prone during the summer. It's unbelievably calming, absorbs quickly and great for day or night. It soothes breakouts and really makes a difference in skin texture. The scent is subtle and calming. Reminds me of Chamomile? I think the color makes me look a little bit sun-kissed which is always a plus.

Make sure to let it fully absorb into the skin otherwise it'll turn white clothing or towels orange.

Herbivore Clay Masks & Lapis Oil

SkincareShelby RodriguezComment

Herbivore Botanicals Blue Clay Mask

The Blue Clay Mask works extremely well during breakouts or when your skin is oily during the summer.  It contains two kinds of clay to draw out impurities and Rose Geranium essential oil which is a natural anti inflammatory.

Herbivore Botanicals Lapis Oil

The Lapis Oil is perfect for oily or combo skin. It calms inflammation and the texture isn't as thick as some oils and doesn't feel greasy. It calms the skin and any imperfections.

Herbivore Botanicals Pink Clay Mask

The Pink Clay mask is a gentle exfoliator that soaks up excess oil and calms skin. I feel like this is a great choice for very sensitive skin.

Vintner's Daughter Facial Oil

Shelby RodriguezComment

The ultimate anti-aging oil made of 22 organic botanical ingredients. The texture is a little bit heavier than some oils (like Herbivore Lapis Oil) but absorbs more quickly than any other oil I've used. Goop herself uses this product so you know it's gotta be good.

I've found that it calms my skin, evens skin tone, shrinks blemishes and overall gives me a healthy glow without looking greasy. It even works well under makeup.

Sk-ii, Glossier & Too Cool For School

Shelby RodriguezComment

Too Cool For School Dinoplatz Lip Balm In Spilled Wine:

A moisturizing tinted lip balm with a jelly-like texture.

TOO COOL FOR SCHOOL Dinoplatz Pearl Bay Invasion Highlighter in Pink Clam:

Illuminating, glitter-based highlighter to brighten the complexion. I liked it but it seemed a little bit watery compared to some other highlighters that I've tried.

GLOSSIER Mega Greens Galaxy Pack MASK

One of my go-to detox masks for when I am oily and breaking out. I use this about twice a week during the summer.

SK-ii facial treatment oil:

The SK-ii Facial Treatment Oil combines oils and Pitera to deliver ultimate hydration. I also love the Sk-ii Essence but I'll write more about that later. The oil absorbs quickly and smells like lavender. It's extremely gentle and never has caused any skin breakouts. It perfectly preps skin for makeup.

My skin is much more calm, clear and evenly toned when I use this regularly at night along with the Sk-ii Essence and the Essential Power Rich Cream.

A great multipurpose product with undertones of smoke, wood, earth and hints of bergamot and cardamon. With a base of argan and coconut oil, you can use it as a hair or body oil.

Peter Thomas Roth 24K Gold MasK:

This luxe mask is moisturizing and plumping. I find that it works best after an exfoliating treatment like drunk elephant baby facial (my favorite, ALSO 20% off using that link.) to be honest, i think the gold makes you think it works better than it does. I do really like the product but i'm not sure it's worth the price.
